Help needed for Co-Op

August 31, 2010

From Melissa Carter:

This Wednesday is the big day! Excitement is in the air along with many questions, I’m sure. Folks will be in the atrium early on Wednesday to get people signed in, take payments ($20), preferably cash because we will be working on a petty cash system, assign posts for those parents not already assigned one and answer questions.

That brings me to some needs for the co-op. Specifically, we are looking for those with the gift of administration. The co-op needs a treasurer; some accounting experience would be nice, but not necessary. Also, I would like to find at least one administrative helper for Terry Beach, who has graciously taken on the rosters so far. If you are interested in either of these billets, please let me know ASAP.

Make sure that you fill out your forms and have your students sign them. We covet your prayers and patience as we seek to equip the next generation and strive for excellence in their education!

God Bless,

Melissa Carter

AWANA Leader Meeting Tues 8/31

August 28, 2010

AWANA Leaders -

We hope you can come to the informational/dessert meeting on Tuesday, Aug 31st @ 7:00. It really helps to be able to meet together and share new info and allow each of the clubs to meet separately with their directors. If you need childcare for the evening please email letting Evelyn know and we will reserve a spot for your children.

Begin praying now that each of us will be instruments for the Lord’s work and pray that more children and whole families will come to faith in Christ through this ministry.

If questions please feel free to call Randy @ 812-3230 or Evelyn @ 521-0626. We will begin registration this Sunday for the children so you may want to go ahead and sign up your own children to help make that first night a little easier for you and your family.

Hope to see each of you at the meeting,

Randy & Evelyn

Text messaging service added

August 25, 2010

A new text messaging (SMS) service has been added for CBC members on the prayer chain website. This will be used on the rare occasions when church or a meeting must be canceled at the last minute due to weather or some other reason. You can sign up by going to the prayer chain website and scroll down to the bottom of the left sidebar where you will find the form. Enter your complete 10 digit cell number and select your service provider. You will almost immediately get a text message on your cell with a random 4 character code. Enter the code in the blank on the website to confirm your subscription. Click here to go to the prayer chain website to sign up. Rick Forschner will be running this service. Notice that you agree to pay any text messaging charges. Depending on your plan, there may not be any additional charges and the use of this service will be very infrequent anyway. You will be glad you signed up if you arrive for church or a meeting and find it closed.

AWANA Registration Begins

August 25, 2010

Registration begins today for all children interested in attending AWANA this school year.

Drew Kuehl, Erin Ladbury and Randy Owens will be available in the atrium to answer any questions about the clubs.

We will also have materials on display, so please stop by and find out how your child can benefit from the AWANA ministry. Our AWANA Team is looking forward to another great year of serving alongside parents as we seek to make an impact for eternity in the lives of students. Anyone interested in getting involved as a leader is also welcome to come by and see which club positions are still available.

CBC School of Music Strings Program

August 23, 2010

From Pastor Matt:

Hello friends, this is an update on the CBC School of Music Strings Program set to begin this September. We have had a very good response so far, but there is still room for more.

Please read over the following information and then contact Laura Caldwell here at the main office to register or if you have questions. Call Laura at 525-0089or email her at cbclaura@gmail.com

YOU MUST REGISTER IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE

Lessons for beginning violin, viola and cello will be weekly on Mondays from 10 AM to 11 AM starting on Monday, September 13.

I know some of you would prefer to have afternoon lessons, but for now, this is the time slot available.

There will be just one class, for now. If we need to have an additional class, we will. All beginners on all the instruments will be together. If you already have experience and are interested in lessons, please plan to come that day so Mr. Kimbell can meet you.

And everyone must be prompt. Parents may remain in the room for the lesson, but we do ask that siblings not be present so as to minimize distractions.

Students will need to come prepared with an instrument. If you need to rent one, please contact Bay Street Music in the KMart shopping center or Knappmusic.com or sharmusic.com or bwlviolins.com, a store in Savannah.

The cost for the lessons will be $10.00 per week. Students will pay for the whole month of lessons at the first lesson of the month. Checks are payable to Community Bible Church. More detail about billing will come soon.

Students will need to purchase a lesson book. We will use “All for Strings” Volume 1, and please purchase the book appropriate for the instrument you are planning to learn — violin, viola or cello. The book can be purchased online, or at Bay Street Music or from Mr. Kimbell on September 13.

Mr. David Kimbell will be our strings instructor. You may visit his website DavidKimbell.com

I know there will be many questions as we embark on this new adventure together. Thanks for your patience. And know that we will be adding piano lessons, music theory lessons, and lessons or other band/orchestra instruments. Please feel free to forward this information to your friends and neighbors. And remember, the CBC School of Music is not restricted to CBC members or CBCCA members. The community is invited to participate.

Again, YOU MUST REGISTER IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. Thanks.

Pastor Matt

Become an AWANA Leader

August 15, 2010

Grow your faith this year! Become an AWANA leader!

Our AWANA program starts September 12th and meets from 5:30 – 7:30 Sunday nights during the school year until early March. This is a ministry that impacts kids not just in our church but in our community as our kids invite friends and neighbors to come play games, sing songs and most importantly hide God’s Word in their heart.

Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Our programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.

A recent national survey found Awana to be as important to our alumni’s spiritual foundation as all other church activities combined. Among alumni who participated in our programs for at least six years, 92.7 percent still attend church at least weekly as adults!

Each week, more than one million kids ages 2 to 18 participate in Awana all over the world. Be a part of this movement here at our own church.

Submit the volunteer form here: http://www.ourkids.cbcbeaufort.org/?page_id=49
